REAL NAME: Nicole Marcella Burt
BIRTH DATE/PLACE: February 16, 1974, Port Antonio, Jamaica
With chart success of her first release single "To Sir With Love", Nikki has proven that her talent does not stop at her good looks; she is proficient in her melodious sound.
Nikki Burt started singing at the tender age of twelve while still at primary school and attending church. Nikki participated in a folk song group at school where they performed to an audience of her peers as part of the schools extra curriculum. Throughout her childhood she was greatly involved in her church and sang a solo song every Sunday to the congregation. After finishing her primary education Nikki went on to high school and became a member of a band called "Fresh" where she was the lead vocalist, for three years the band was extremely active, holding a resident position at the Fern Hill Club in Portland. There was no stopping this young budding artist, Nikki discovered that there was more opportunities for her on Jamaica's north coast thus Nikki set out to build her career. Taking up residency in Ocho Rios, Nikki was discovered by the famous Peter Fraser Band whom she worked with for several years as a resident band at the prestigious Mallards Beach Resort and the Sans Souci Hotel. During this period Nikki developed her stage presence and expanded her vocal talent.
In 1990 Nikki encountered the Fifth Extension Band, at which time they worked as a resident band at a large hotel in Negril. This band's leader was in fact Mikey Spice who invited Nikki to work with them that night and since then has maintained contact throughout. During the recording of Mikey Spice "Born Again" album Nikki was featured in the duet "Finally Made It" recorded for Bobby Digital on the Digital B label. This album is distributed by V P records.
Nikki has singles released on the Ingredience Production label. These songs are Nobody Loves Me, I Don't Know, and Lovers Plane. I Don't Know, and Nobody Loves Me, can also be found on the Spice Rack CD, being distributed by Paras Group in Los Angeles, a song on King Jammys Label "Wonderful Love" which is poised to do extremely as a follow up to "If You Want My Loving" released on the Ajang Music Production Label. Nikki has worked with entertainers, i.e., Nadine Sutherland, Everton Blender, Dorothy Moore, Black Uhuru, Jean Chandler, Mikey Spice, Bushman and now more recently works with Buju Banton in the capacity of background vocals and opening act. She held the number 3 position on the Choice FM music charts in London with a cover version of the Jennifer Lopez "If you want my loving".
With the capacity to sing well, Nikki is striving to broaden the definition of reggae music for the 20's. Hers is a fresh voice, a fresh vision, shaped as much by her reggae forerunners, and international artists who continue to inspire her realization for good music.

Sandals designer Bridget say "Bridget sandals" in Jamaica and fashion watchers, as well as lovers of sexy leather straps, will smile the smug smile of those in the know. It has been, for Bridget Brown, (known by thousands as Bridget), a journey of twenty-odd years. The fact is, the leather soles of her sandals almost left her barefooted on several occasions. "It took me three years," Bridget tells SunDay to get my feet off the ground. I paid the price for not going to school. I had to endure artisans not cutting the leather properly, bad work attitude, sabotage, you name it, I went through it."
A baptism of fire, some might be tempted to add for the former Playboy Bunny. "I was a bunny between 1972 and 1977 at the Playboy Boscobel Beach," says Bridget, flashing her signature toothy smile, and still conscious of that bunny poise.
"Playboy was forced to close (no tourists were coming to Jamaica). I was forced to come back to Kingston. I had to find some means of survival. My first stop was G's One of a Kind -- an upscale boutique that sold one-of-a kind Italian shoes and clothing. I left that in May 1981, after Bob Marley's death. I sold pound-cloth for Carmen Brown of Karmen's Corner. "There I was with my scale underneath my arm, and my cushions at my side. I really never wanted to make sandals. I also made skull caps and crochet bags."
Start she did and never looked back. Bridget even found the time and finances to attend school in Milan. "I went to school out of curiosity. I wondered if I was doing something wrong. Little did I know that I was in fact doing something right. My customers are happy, the sandals are fitting right, and I, too, am satisfied. I admire what I am doing."
No idle boast. Bridget Sandals were on the runway at New York Fashionweek, and Caribbean Fashionweek. Bridget Sandals are in Barbados, St Kitts, Antigua, Lincoln Avenue, South Beach (Miami), in the Village (New York) and at Controversy -- Battersea London.
Come next season, there's the possibility of a shipment to Japan, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, and Dallas.
"You have to be skilfull to survive. It has been a 20-year fight for survival. It's a struggle to maintain quality, confidence, style, craftsmanship. Finally, you have to have integrity in business."
As the chat comes to an end and Bridget does that Bridget walk towards her taxi, and there's a feeling that the very best is still to come from this beautiful sister.
